This listing is for our failed soaps - we're constantly experimenting with different ingredients and styles in our soaps, and these are the ones that didn't turn out that great for one reason or another - sometimes the scent isn't great, other times the lather doesn't seem up to par, and occasionally it's simply cosmetic. They often come with a decent dose of soda ash (a harmless white film that will wash off on first use). They're still perfectly fine soaps that will get you clean and they're all made from the same amazing raw ingredients that all of our products are made of, they're just not quite up to the level that we'd like them to be. These options will change periodically.

Each bar is in the 3.5-5.5 oz range and will come simply wrapped in thin paper.

Current Failures:

/// Babassu & Lemongrass is a very simple, hard, nicely lathering and highly cleansing soap. However it's kind of full of bubbles or gaps that make it look weird when cut and has some soda ash buildup (harmless white film that will wash off on first use). This soap has a mild lemongrass scent.

Ingredients
===========
Organic Babassu Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), and Essential Oils (Organic Lemongrass and ylang ylang).

/// Coffee Bar Swirl is a super soda ashy soap (harmless white film that will wash off on first use) that's made with some coffee essential oil, that's just kind of meh in terms of lather and scent - and it attracts far too much soda ash all over it.

Ingredients
===========
Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), Organic Castor Oil, Rhassoul Clay, and Coffee Essential Oil.

/// Indian Almond Oil is one that I actually can't even find my complete ingredients list for, but it is primarily made from an almond oil from India that has the most splendid almond scent - which, to my dismay, did not come through at all in the actual soap. It does have a very faint scent of orange or lemongrass, so I think I may have added a bit of essential oil to it as well. These are hard, nicely lathering bars, though they do have this odd either bubbling or stearic spots throughout (both are simply cosmetic flaws).

Ingredients
===========
Organic Almond Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), Organic Castor Oil, and Essential Oil.

/// Just Meh - it's kind of hard to pinpoint where this soap went wrong, as there's nothing all that bad about it, but it's just an all around meh soap, with a meh lather, and a very mild, but meh scent to it.

Ingredients
===========
Organic Deodorized Cocoa Butter, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Argan Oil, Aloe Vera Juice, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), Organic Castor Oil, and Essential Oil (Organic Eucalyptus, Himalayan Cedarwood, Organic Orange, Organic Lavender, Virginian Cedarwood, Organic Tea Tree).

/// Mud Bar - we made this to look a little muddy and were aiming for a bar that kids might like to play with (and clean with), but the lather wasn't as bubbly as we wanted and the scent from the molasses was just kind of strange. This one also has attracted quite a bit of soda ash (a harmless white film that will wash off on first use). Though our kids are still enjoying it!

Ingredients
===========
Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Olive Oil, Aloe Vera Juice, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), Organic Castor Oil, Organic Chamomile Powder, Activated Charcoal, and Organic Black Strap Molasses.

Truly Handmade Soap
======================
We personally design and make all of our soaps ourselves using the traditional cold process soap method. Our soaps are not made from pre-purchased bases. Our soaps will vary to some degree from batch to batch and even bar to bar, as is their handmade nature.

Why Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)?
=============================
You can't make real soap without lye, however the finished product, the soap you receive, will not have any sodium hydroxide lye in it. When we make your soap, we mix lye with our organic oils and a saponification process ensues which basically (keeping things simple) turns the oils into soap. All of the lye is used up in this reaction, along with most of the oils.
