This listing is for our mis-soaps (trials, miscuts, and fails) - we're constantly experimenting with different ingredients and styles in our soaps, and these are the ones that didn't turn out that great for one reason or another - sometimes the scent isn't great, other times the lather doesn't seem up to par, and some simply have cosmetic issues. They may come with a dose of soda ash (a harmless white film that will wash off on first use). They're still perfectly fine soaps that will get you clean and they're all made from the same amazing raw ingredients that all of our products are made of, they're just not quite up to the level that we'd like them to be. These options will change periodically.
Each bar is in the 3.5-5.5 oz range and will come simply wrapped in thin paper.

Coconut Shea this is simply a few miscuts of this soap.
Trial #8 is our first try at a chocolate peppermint bar featuring a bunch of butter.
Ingredients: Organic unrefined cocoa butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Mango Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide Lye (no Lye remains after saponification), Organic Apricot Kernel Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Organic Essential Oil (Peppermint, Spearmint).
Random will be just some random soap and/or chunks of soap. This will be at least 3oz.
Almond Soap Trial is a simple soap that's actually a pretty nice bar, overall, though I didn't add enough essential oils and the scent in nearly non-existent. But there's nothing really wrong with this soap, we just decided not to make it a main offering. This soap is over 2/3 just almond oil.

We personally design and make all of our soaps ourselves using the traditional cold process soap method. Our soaps are not made from pre-purchased bases. Our soaps will vary to some degree from batch to batch and even bar to bar, as is their handmade nature.
Why Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)?

You can't make real soap without lye, however the finished product, the soap you receive, will not have any sodium hydroxide lye in it. When we make your soap, we mix lye with our organic oils and a saponification process ensues which basically (keeping things simple) turns the oils into soap. All of the lye is used up in this reaction, along with most of the oils.
