This wonder oil (aren't they all though?) was originally only derived from certain animal livers, but now you can get this powerfully emollient, anti aging, antioxidant deeply moisturizing oil in a purely vegan form.
This highly derived and refined oil is quite different from our typical offerings, which we generally keep as close to natural as possible, but we decided to give it a try and see what all the hubbub was about. This oil has an extremely light, nearly water-like thinness to it and easily absorbs into the skin. It also has a light, but somewhat odd almost motor-oil scent. A scent similar to, though also a bit different than, many pure olive oils.
Our squalane is produced from squalene derived from olive oil. The hydrogenation of squalene results in squalane oil, a more stable oil better suited to skin care products. Squalene is a natural occurring component of human sebum and squalane oil is thought to be a highly effective emollient and moisturizer and often used in anti aging formulations and for skin repair in general.
